- Number of palings, rails or posts to replace
- Whether posts are rotten or have concrete footings to remove
- Fence height, material and access to both sides
- Removal of old material
Photos help. Helpful photos: the whole fence run or gate, a close photo of the damage and the base of the posts, and the latch or hinges for a gate.
When more information is needed. Palings and gate adjustments can often be estimated from photos. Several leaning posts, or a longer run of new fencing, usually needs measurements first.

Do I need my neighbour's agreement for a fence repair?
For a shared boundary fence, it is sensible to talk to your neighbour first. We do not arrange or settle dividing-fence agreements.
Can you fix a gate that won't close?
