Silicone does not last forever. When it lifts, splits or pulls away, it may no longer seal the joint properly, and cleaning alone may not be enough. We cut out the old sealant, prepare and dry the joint, and lay a neat new bead in a suitable sealant for the surface.

- Total length of joints and the number of wet areas
- How difficult the old sealant is to remove
- Whether the joint needs drying time before resealing
- Sealant type required for the surface

When more information is needed. Resealing is usually quotable from photos. If water is appearing where the silicone is not the cause, the leak needs to be diagnosed first, and regulated plumbing work must go to a licensed plumber.

How much does resealing a shower cost?
Labour starts from $129, including GST. Parts and materials are additional unless stated otherwise. Pricing can be affected by the total length of joints and number of wet areas, how hard the old sealant is to remove, whether the joint needs drying time before resealing, and the sealant type required. A starting price is not a fixed quote; the accepted quote sets the scope.
When does silicone need replacing?
Silicone does not last forever. When it lifts, splits or pulls away from the surface, it may no longer seal the joint properly and replacement is usually the practical option. Mould staining alone does not always mean the seal has failed.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. New silicone does not bond properly to old sealant, so the old bead is removed and the joint prepared and dried first.
Will resealing stop my shower leaking?
It may help when failed silicone is the actual path for the water. If water is appearing where the silicone is not the cause, the leak needs to be diagnosed first. Diagnosing or repairing leaks inside a wall or floor is not included, and regulated plumbing must go to a licensed plumber.
Do you remove mould from grout or walls?
Removing existing mould from grout, paint or plaster as a cleaning service is not included. Regrouting is covered under tile repairs and regrouting.
